DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY

Agronomy is the science and technology of producing and growing plants in agriculture field. For food, fuel, fibre, and land restoration. It is both a humanitarian career and a scientific one. Agronomy has come to encompass work in the areas of plant genetics, plant physiology, meteorology, and soil science.

DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING
Genetics is a branch of biology concerned with the study of genes, genetic variation, and heredity in organisms.
Plant breeding is the science of changing the traits of plants in order to produce desired characteristics. It has been used to improve the quality of nutrition in products for human being.  Plant breeding can be accomplished through many different techniques ranging from simply selecting plants with desirable characteristics for propagation, to methods that make use of knowledge of genetics and chromosomes, to more complex molecular techniques.

DEPARTMENT OF SOIL SCIENCE & AGRICULTURE CHEMISTRY
Soil science is the study of soil as a natural resource on the surface of the Earth including soil formation, classification and mapping; physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils; and these properties in relation to the use and management of soils.
Sometimes terms which refer to branches of soil science, such as pedology (formation, chemistry, morphology, and classification of soil) and edaphology (how soils interact with living things, especially plants), are used as if synonymous with soil science.

DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY
Entomology is the scientific study of insects, a branch of zoology. In the past the term “insect” was vaguer, and historically the definition of entomology included the study of terrestrial animals in other arthropod groups or other phyla, such as arachnids, myriapods, earthworms, land snails, and slugs. Like several of the other fields that are categorized within zoology, entomology is a taxon-based category; any form of scientific study in which there is a focus on insect-related inquiries.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS
Agricultural economics is an applied field of economics concerned with the application of economic theory in optimizing the production and distribution of food and grains. Agricultural economics began as a branch of economics that specifically dealt with land usage, it focused on maximizing the crop yield while maintaining a good soil ecosystem.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING
Agricultural engineering is the engineering of agricultural production and processing. Agricultural engineering combines the disciplines of mechanical, electrical, Food science and chemical engineering principles with a knowledge of agricultural principles according to technological principles. A key goal of this discipline is to improve the efficacy and sustainability of agricultural practices.

DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PATHOLOGY
Plant pathology  is the scientific study of diseases in plants caused by pathogens  and environmental conditions Organisms that cause infectious disease include fungi, bacteria, viruses, organisms, phytoplasmas, protozoa, nematodes and parasitic plants.

DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE
Horticulture is the branch of agriculture. Horticulturist work involves plant propagation and cultivation with the aim of improving plant growth, yields, quality, nutritional value and resistance to insects, diseases and environmental stresses. They work as gardeners, growers, designers, and technical advisors in the food and non-food sectors of Horticulture.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION
Agricultural extension is the application of scientific research and new technological knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education. The field of ‘extension’ now encompasses a wider range of communication and learning activities organized for rural people by educators from different disciplines, including agriculture,  health, and home science studies

DEPARTMENT OF SOIL CONSERVATION
Soil conservation is the prevention of loss of the upper layer of the soil from erosion or prevention of reduced fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination.
Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, using, conserving, and repairing forests, woodlands, and associated resources for human and environmental benefits. Forestry is practiced in plantations and natural stands. The science of forestry has elements that belong to the biological, physical, social, political and managerial sciences.

DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRY SCIENCE
Animal husbandry is the branch of agriculture concerned with animals that are raised for meat, milk, eggs, or other products. It includes day-to-day care, selective breeding and the raising of livestock. The dairy industry is the largest sector of the food-supply chain, in that not only doesit supply retailers with numerous ready-to-eat products like liquid milk, butter andcheese, but also it provides ingredients, e.g. milk powders and condensed milk, to avariety of food processors.

DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS, COMPUTER, APPLICATION AND IPR
Statistics is the discipline that concerns the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data. In applying statistics to a scientific, industrial, or social problem, it is conventional to begin with a statistical population or a statistical model to be studied. Statistics deals with every aspect of data, including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments.

COMPREHENSION & COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ENGLISH
In this discipline that concerned with ample guidance and practice in sentence building, correct usage, comprehension, written composition and other allied areas so as to equip the students with the personality to express themselves though effective English.

NON GRADIAL COURSES (PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND YOGA PRACTICES)
Physical education, the concept of physical literacy covers a variety of conditions for a student. Whether its motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding for student. Teachers implement these different concepts into their lesson plans to teach and develop students accordingly and appropriately for their individual success and education.

DEPARTMENT OF TEACHERS EDUCATION (BTC)/ D.El.Ed.
Basic Training Certificate (BTC)/ D.El.Ed. Is a Certificate level Educational course. The course is two years (full time) recognized by NCTE, Govt. of India. The course is good for those applying for assistant teachers’ jobs. It is a necessary certificate for the appointment of primary teachers in government primary schools
